De Koog

De Koog is the seaside resort of Texel. Only a row of dunes separates the village from the beach and the sea. In the cozy village center you will find many nice shops, terraces, restaurants and cafes. The surroundings also look fantastic. The village is within walking distance of various nature reserves with beautiful cycling and walking paths. Sports enthusiasts will also get their money's worth, such as at the surfing school.

There is plenty to do in De Koog!

Den Burg

The largest village on Texel

Den Burg, with its medieval round street pattern, gives many people the impression of a small town. It is the largest village on the island, the 'capital' of Texel. About half of the almost 14,000 Texel residents live there. It is therefore not surprising that it is a lively village. Central institutions and facilities such as the tourist office, the open-air swimming pool and the cinema are located in Den Burg.

And let's not forget an extensive range of shops, cafés and restaurants. The weekly market is every Monday morning.

Oudeschild

The fishing village of Texel

The village of Oudeschild was founded at the beginning of the 17th century and is the only village on Texel that is located directly on the sea. You can take a boat trip from Oudeschild on the Wadden Sea and experience the illustrious VOC history of the Texelse Reede in Museum Kaap Skil.

In Kaap Skil there is an exhibition of the finds from the Palmhout wreck with an intact silk dress.

De Cocksdorp

The youngest village on Texel

On the northern tip of Texel, near the lighthouse, lies De Cocksdorp. The youngest village on the island has a real holiday atmosphere. From the dike just outside De Cocksdorp, you have an impressive view of the Wadden Sea.

The over 150 year old lighthouse of Texel is almost 35 meters high. Nowadays, the tower is set up as a museum with an interesting exhibition on the way up. There, a phenomenal view of the Wadden awaits.

De Waal

The smallest village on Texel

In De Waal it is quiet and there is a friendly atmosphere. At the Hogereind there are several beautiful farms and old houses that determine the street scene.

The Museum Waelstee was founded by volunteers who wanted to preserve the history of agricultural Texel for posterity. Nowadays the exhibition focuses on the entire island life of about a hundred years ago. There are regular demonstrations of old crafts. Definitely go and experience them!

Den Hoorn

Most photographed church on Texel

The charming church of Den Hoorn with its white tower is said to be the most photographed object on Texel. The beautiful facades are reminiscent of the time when pilots and whalers populated this elevated village on the southern tip of Texel.

Do you like art? Den Hoorn is known as the artists' village of Texel. There are several galleries in Den Hoorn with work by 'old Texel masters' such as Ad Blok van der Velden, but you will also find modern work.

Oosterend

Most beautiful village centre of Texel

VMany people consider Oosterend to be the most beautiful village on Texel. Picturesque streets with old facades surround the almost thousand year old Maartenskerk.

A few shops, restaurants and a café provide some coziness in the village. Oosterend is located near the Wadden Sea.
